SoleMOVE – University of Lapland Online Application System for International Mobility

Step 1: Exchange Student Nomination by the Partner University / Applicant's Home University

We request that nomination of incoming students are submitted by email to international.relations@ulapland.fiby the international coordinator of Partner University / Applicant’s Home University.

Deadline for nominations for Autumn Semester 2012 and Full Year Admission 2012-2013 is April 30, 2012 and for Spring Semester 2013 is September 30, 2012.

Partner universities are welcome to nominate students also after the deadlines, but please be aware that it may not be possible to offer housing assistance to students who are nominated and/or applying late.

Please inform us for each of your students

1) applicant’s name

2) date of birth

3) email

4) duration of the exchange

5) EU subject area at home institution

6) EU subject area at host institution

Eu Subject area codes used in ULapland:

International Office will review the nominations and send e-mail to these students with detailed application instructions.

Step 2: Applicant filling in the Online Application

Applicant should fill in the online application on SoleMove – system by using the user name and password received by email from SoleMove system (after the nomination from home university). The email includes also the Guidebook for SoleMove. Application must be sent through the SoleMove system only with the required attachments, no hard copies must be sent. Applicants can keep track of their application status online in the system but will also receive e-mails when the admission decision is made.

Step 3: Admission Process at the University of Lapland

Faculty International Coordinators will review the applications after the deadline and the exchange admission decision will be made by June 15th, 2012/November 15th 2012. Applicant receives admission decision through SoleMove system. Applicant will receive a Welcoming Package with Admission Letter by email, however some documents (Learning Agreement, Guidebook etc) will be sent by post.

Semester dates

Autumn semester 2012:

Orientation Programme: September 3 – September 7, 2012 (recommended arrival day September 1-2, 2012)

Semester: August 1 – December 31

Please note that the actual teaching period during the autumn semester is August 29, 2012 – December 19, 2012.

Spring semester 2013:

Orientation Programme: January 8 – January 11, 2013 (recommended arrival day January 7, 2013)

Semester: January 2 – July 31

Please note that the actual teaching period during the spring semester is January 9, 2013 – May 31, 2013.

 

Examinations:

Are arranged throughout the year, usually at the end of the course. There are no fixed examination periods.

Transcript of records:

Are given directly to the student in the end of their exchange period if all courses are marked on the transcript. If not, document will be sent by end of January/mid June to the students or to the University.

Accommodation:

Off-campus accommodation is provided by DAS Housing. The monthly rent varies from EUR 120-362 / person, depending on the size, condition, furniture etc. of the room.
