V \u010dlanku \u00bb<strong>Normal red blood cells&#8217; shape stabilized by membrane<\/strong><strong>&#8216;s<\/strong><strong> in-plane ordering<\/strong>\u00ab, avtorji<strong> \u00a0<\/strong>L. Mesarec, W. G\u00f3\u017ad\u017a, A. Igli\u010d, V. Kralj-Igli\u010d, E. G. Virga in S. Kralj, je podano teoreti\u010dno pojasnilo, zakaj so dolo\u010dene geometrije rde\u010dih krvni\u010dk tako pogoste v naravi. Klju\u010dna je bila vklju\u010ditev koncepta \u201czunanje ukrivljenosti\u201d, katerega so v dosedanjih raziskavah praviloma neupravi\u010deno zanemarjali. Rezultati raziskave so zanimivi tudi s fundamentalnega vidika in so uporabni za vsa podro\u010dja fizike (vklju\u010dujo\u010d kozmologijo). Avtorji \u010dlanka so namre\u010d vpleljali originalni teoreti\u010dni koncept geometrijskih potencialov, ki napoveduje pogoje lokalnega ujetja topolo\u0161kih defektov v poljubnih sistemih in\u00a0geometrija.
