Uro\u0161 Tkalec s sodelavci v Nature Communications"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Sodelavec Oddelka za fiziko, Uro\u0161 Tkalec, je skupaj z doktorandom Tadejem Emer\u0161i\u010dem in mladima fizikoma z Univerze v Ljubljani, Simonom \u010coparjem in \u017digo Kosom, objavil znanstveni \u010dlanek z naslovom &#8220;Microfluidic control over topological states in channel-confined nematic flows&#8221; v ugledni reviji Nature Communications.<\/p>\n<p>Avtorji v \u010dlanku analizirajo tokovne re\u017eime homogene nematske teko\u010dine, ki se oblikujejo zaradi stri\u017enih deformacij molekularnega polja v mikrofluidi\u010dnem kanal\u010dku. Poudarek je na doslej neopa\u017eenih kiralnih stanjih, ki se vzpostavijo ob dovolj hitri in natan\u010dni tla\u010dni regulaciji pretoka nematikov in jih lahko opazujemo v polarizirani svetlobi. Tak\u0161na metastabilna stanja se vzpostavijo v teko\u010dinah z anizotropnimi elasti\u010dnimi lastnostmi in so jih doslej prou\u010devali zgolj v ravnovesnih konfiguracijah, pri\u010dujo\u010da \u0161tudija pa obravnava njihov razvoj in obstoj v laminarnem toku. Eksperimentalne ugotovitve so podkrepljene z Landauovim modelom faznih prehodov, ki pojasni razloge za stabilizacijo posameznih stanj z minimalnim naborom fizikalnih parametrov. Rezultati zaokro\u017eujejo desetljetje trajajo\u010de obdobje raziskav na podro\u010dju nematofluidike in obetajo uporabo teh konceptov v liotropnih in aktivnih teko\u010dinah z nematskim redom.<\/p>\n<p>Na\u0161 doktorand, dr. Emer\u0161i\u010d, te dni za\u010denja podoktorsko usposabljanje na ugledni University of Chicago, medtem ko je dr.
