Uro\u0161em Tkalcem in sodelavci iz Univerze v Ljubljani (\u017diga Kos, Simon \u010copar, Natan Osterman) ter iz University of Chicago (Rui Zhang, Juan de Pablo) objavil znanstveni \u010dlanek z naslovom &#8220;Sculpting stable structures in pure liquids&#8221; v ugledni reviji Science Advances.<\/p>\n<p>Z mentorjem sta razvila eksperimentalni pristop, ki povezuje mikrofluidiko teko\u010dih kristalov z optotermi\u010dno mikromanipulacijo in omogo\u010da kontrolirano tvorjenje ter transport mikroskopskih domen s polarno orientacijsko fazo v hidrodinamskem toku nematskega teko\u010dega kristala. Delo predstavlja pomemben korak v raziskavah strukturiranih teko\u010din, saj gre za prvi primer stabilizacije mikrosegmentov \u010diste anizotropne teko\u010dine s kombinacijo zunanjih polj. Predstavljeni rezultati eksperimentov, numeri\u010dnih simulacij in teoreti\u010dnih analiz odpirajo nove mo\u017enosti raziskav dinami\u010dnih pojavov v kompleksnih in aktivnih teko\u010dinah s fazno mejo, omogo\u010dajo tvorbo odzivnih opti\u010dno aktivnih elementov in selektivno enkapsulacijo dispergiranih molekul in mikrodelcev brez me\u0161anja teko\u010din.<\/p>\n<p>Rezultate teh raziskav je dr. Tkalec nedavno predstavil na Gordon Research Conference on Complex Active and Adaptive Material Systems v Venturi, v Kaliforniji.
